  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup hazelnut chocolate spread
  • 1/4 cup chopped hazelnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast, let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture, softened butter, and eggs to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle.
  8. Spread the hazelnut chocolate spread evenly over the dough.
  9. Sprinkle chopped hazelnuts on top if using.
  10. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut it in half lengthwise.
  11. Twist the two halves together and place in a greased loaf pan.
  12. Let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  13. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  14. Let cool before slicing and serving.
