  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract to the yeast mixture and mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour, cocoa powder, and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread melted butter, and sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, and chocolate chips.
  8. Roll the dough tightly and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  9. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For extra chocolate flavor, drizzle with chocolate icing after baking.
  • These rolls can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator overnight before baking.
