Christmas Thumbprint Cookies are a delightful holiday treat filled with your favorite jam and topped with a sprinkle of powdered sugar.

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup fruit jam (your choice)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt, then gradually add to the butter mixture until combined.
  5. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Using your thumb or the back of a spoon, make an indentation in the center of each ball.
  7. Fill each indentation with your choice of fruit jam.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Allow to cool on a wire rack, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Feel free to use different flavors of jam for variety.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
