  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring until combined.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it boil for 3 minutes without stirring.
  5. Pour the caramel mixture over the saltine crackers, spreading it evenly.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes until bubbly.
  7. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  8. Let the chocolate sit for a few minutes to melt, then spread it evenly over the caramel.
  9. If desired, sprinkle chopped nuts on top of the melted chocolate.
  10. Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
