Homemade Peppermint Nougat Candy is a delightful and festive treat that combines the flavors of peppermint and nougat for a perfect holiday snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Cook over medium heat until the mixture reaches 240°F (soft ball stage).
  2. While the sugar mixture is cooking, beat the egg whites in a separate bowl until stiff peaks form.
  3. Once the sugar mixture reaches the desired temperature, slowly pour it into the beaten egg whites while continuing to beat.
  4. Add peppermint extract, salt, and nuts (if using) to the mixture and continue to beat until thick and fluffy.
  5. Fold in the crushed peppermint candies.
  6. Spread the nougat mixture into a greased pan and let it cool completely.
  7. Once cooled, cut into squares and enjoy!
