A comforting and easy one pot meal featuring ground beef, tender pasta, and rich butter all cooked together for a creamy, flavorful dish with minimal cleanup.
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground beef
1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
4 cups beef broth
8 ounces uncooked penne pasta
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Heat the olive oil in a large pot or deep skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot and cook for 2-3 minutes until the onion is softened and fragrant.
Pour in the beef broth and bring to a boil.
Add the uncooked penne pasta, salt, black pepper, and dried Italian seasoning to the pot.
Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed, about 12-15 minutes.
Remove the pot from heat and stir in the unsalted butter until melted and well combined.
Mix in the grated Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley.
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed before serving.
