Pumpkin Chocolate Mousse Cake

A rich and creamy pumpkin chocolate mousse cake that combines the flavors of fall with a decadent chocolate twist.

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package chocolate cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the chocolate cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water until well combined.
  3. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  4. While the cake is baking, prepare the mousse by whipping the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  5. In another bowl, combine pumpkin puree, sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  6. Fold the whipped cream into the pumpkin mixture until fully incorporated.
  7. Once the cake is cooled, layer the pumpkin mousse on top of the cake.
  8. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate cocoa powder.
  • Make sure the cake is completely cooled before adding the mousse.
  • This cake can be made a day in advance for better flavor.
