A classic and flavorful beef and broccoli stir-fry made with tender slices of beef, crisp broccoli florets, and a savory garlic soy sauce. Perfect for a quick and satisfying weeknight dinner.
1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
4 cups broccoli florets
3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 cup beef broth
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, water, brown sugar, black pepper, and beef broth until smooth. Set aside.
Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
Add the sliced beef to the skillet and stir-fry for 3 to 4 minutes until browned but not fully cooked. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3 to 4 minutes until bright green and crisp-tender.
Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Return the beef to the skillet with the broccoli.
Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and broccoli and stir well to combine.
Cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens and the beef is cooked through.
Remove from heat and drizzle the toasted sesame oil over the stir-fry. Toss gently to combine.
Serve immediately over steamed rice or noodles if desired.
