A delicious twist on the classic grilled cheese sandwich, featuring juicy seasoned beef patties melted with cheddar cheese on toasted rye bread. Perfect for a hearty lunch or dinner.
1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
8 slices rye bread
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
8 slices sharp cheddar cheese
In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined.
Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a thin patty slightly smaller than the bread slices.
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the beef patties for 3-4 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
Spread 1/2 tablespoon of softened butter on one side of each slice of rye bread.
Place 4 slices of bread, buttered side down, on a clean skillet over medium heat.
Top each slice with a cooked beef patty and 2 slices of cheddar cheese.
Cover each with the remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
Cook the sandwiches for 3-4 minutes on each side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Remove from skillet, let cool for 1-2 minutes, then slice each sandwich in half and serve immediately.
