Enjoy a quick and flavorful Caribbean-inspired dish with these air fryer Caribbean jerk shrimp. Marinated in a spicy, aromatic jerk seasoning blend, then air fried to perfection for a crispy, juicy finish. Perfect as an appetizer or main course.
1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon brown sugar, packed
1 tablespoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
In a medium bowl, combine brown sugar, smoked paprika, ground allspice, dried thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, ground cinnamon, ground black pepper, salt, cayenne pepper, and ground nutmeg to create the jerk seasoning.
Add olive oil and fresh lime juice to the seasoning mix and stir well to form a marinade.
Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the bowl and toss thoroughly to coat all shrimp evenly with the marinade.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 10 to 15 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.
Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 minutes.
Arrange the marinated shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not overlapping. You may need to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
Air fry the shrimp at 400°F (200°C) for 7 to 8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking to ensure even crisping. The shrimp should be opaque and slightly crispy on the edges.
Remove the shrimp from the air fryer and serve immediately with lime wedges or your favorite side.
