Ingredients

Scale

1 cup warm water (110°F to 115°F)
2 1/4 teaspoons Red Star Rise active dry yeast (one 0.25-ounce packet)
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, Red Star Rise yeast, and sugar. Stir gently and let sit for 5 to 10 minutes until the mixture is foamy.
Add the melted butter and salt to the yeast mixture and stir to combine.
Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, stirring with a wooden spoon or dough hook attachment until a soft dough forms.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add small amounts of flour if the dough is too sticky.
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm, draft-free place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough to release air bubbles and shape it into a loaf.
Place the shaped dough into a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes until it has risen about 1 inch above the pan.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bake the bread for 25 to 30 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
Transfer the bread to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
