Create festive and delicious Peanut Butter Cookie Turkeys, perfect for Thanksgiving or fall celebrations. These cute turkeys are made with classic peanut butter cookies decorated with candy and pretzels to resemble turkey feathers and faces.
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon baking soda
12 mini pretzel twists
24 candy-coated chocolate pieces (such as M&M’s), assorted colors
12 candy eyes
12 small orange candy pieces (such as orange Tic Tacs or orange mini M&Ms)
12 small red candy pieces (such as red mini M&Ms or red cinnamon candies)
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, mix together the peanut butter, granulated sugar, egg, and baking soda until well combined and smooth.
Using a tablespoon, scoop out dough and roll into 12 equal balls. Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
Flatten each ball slightly with the palm of your hand to form a round cookie shape.
Press 12 mini pretzel twists into the top half of each cookie to resemble turkey feathers, arranging them in a fan shape.
Bake the cookies for 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from oven and let cool completely on the baking sheet.
Once cooled, decorate each cookie by pressing 2 candy eyes near the center bottom of the cookie for the turkey’s eyes.
Place one small orange candy piece below the eyes to represent the turkey’s beak.
Add one small red candy piece next to the beak to represent the turkey’s wattle.
Attach 2 candy-coated chocolate pieces on each pretzel twist feather to add colorful accents.
