4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (about 6 ounces each)
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 5 minutes.
In a small bowl, mix smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, chili powder, and cayenne pepper.
Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels.
Brush both sides of each chicken breast with olive oil.
Sprinkle the spice mixture evenly over both sides of the chicken breasts, pressing gently to adhere.
Place the chicken breasts in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they do not overlap.
Cook the chicken breasts for 9 minutes.
Flip the chicken breasts and brush the top side generously with barbecue sauce.
Cook for an additional 7 to 9 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the chicken is cooked through.
Brush the other side of the chicken breasts with barbecue sauce after flipping if desired and cook the remaining time.
Remove the chicken breasts from the air fryer and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
