Apple Cake for Toddlers

2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and finely chopped
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/4 cup plain whole milk yogurt
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup honey
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg.
In a large bowl, combine the unsweetened applesauce, plain whole milk yogurt, vegetable oil, honey, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix well until smooth.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and gently fold until just combined.
Fold in the finely chopped apples evenly into the batter.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
Transfer the cake to a wire rack and allow it to cool completely before serving.
