Beef and Chicken Gravy

A rich and flavorful gravy combining the savory tastes of beef and chicken, perfect for serving over mashed potatoes, roasted meats, or biscuits.

Ingredients

Scale

2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
2 cups chicken broth
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon soy sauce

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
Add the finely chopped onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and translucent, about 5 minutes.
Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Sprinkle the all-purpose flour over the onion and garlic mixture and whisk continuously to form a roux. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the roux turns a light golden brown.
Gradually whisk in the beef broth and chicken broth, ensuring no lumps form.
Add Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, black pepper, salt, and soy sauce to the mixture. Stir well to combine.
Bring the gravy to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency.
Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt or pepper if needed.
Remove from heat and serve warm over your favorite dishes.
